What it's About...
A two to five day canoe hire trip will see you starting from the small village of Glasbury-on-Wye, paddling between 22 miles to 62 miles downstream, depending on the length of trip you wish to take.
Your trip will begin by arriving at our Canoe Hire Centre on the first day, where we will sign you in and equip you with a buoyancy aid, paddle and 1 large dry barrel & 1 small dry barrel per canoe. Once you and your group are packed & ready, you will be transported down to the starting point in Glasbury-on-Wye where, our experienced staff will give you a short brief about the river and basic paddling techniques to see you through before launching your and your boats on the water.
Each day you will enjoy a leisurely journey downstream with plenty of wildlife to see along the way and come the evening, you will pitch up and enjoy a night under the stars before continuing on to your final destination. Once you arrive at the collection point, one of our hire team will collect you and transport you and the equipment back to the canoe hire centre.
We have 2-man canoes, 3-man canoes and single sit-on-top kayaks available to hire.Two Day River Trip
A two day canoe hire trip will see you starting from the small village of Glasbury-on-Wye, paddling approximately 22 miles downstream to Preston-on-Wye.
Route: Glasbury-on-Wye to Preston-on-Wye
Distance: 22 miles (approx)
About the Trip:
DAY 1: You will arrive at the canoe hire centre, in Three Cocks, where we will sign you in and kit you up. You and your group will then be transported to the starting point in Glasbury-on-Wye. Your first day will see you paddle approximately 10 miles downstream to Whitney-on-Wye which will be your camping destination for the night.
DAY 2: You will continue your journey downstream a further 12 miles to Preston-on-Wye. Along the way you will pass through the shallow rapids of the Scar & Monnington Falls before reaching your final destination, Preston-on-Wye, where we will meet you at 3.30pm and transport you back to the activity centre (30 minutes drive).

Three Day Canoe Trip...
Three day canoe hire trip will see you starting from the small village of Glasbury-on-Wye, paddling approximately 32 miles downstream to Hereford.
Route: Glasbury-on-Wye to Hereford
Distance: 32 miles (approx)
About the Trip:
DAY 1: You will arrive at the canoe hire centre, in Three Cocks, where we will sign you in and kit you up. You and your group will then be transported to the starting point in Glasbury-on-Wye. Your first day will see you paddle approximately 10 miles downstream to Whitney-on-Wye which will be your first camping destination.
DAY 2: You will continue your journey downstream a further 12 miles. Along the way you will pass through the shallow rapids of the Scar & Monnington Falls before reaching your camping destination, Preston-on-Wye, for your second night.
DAY 3: You will embark on the final lef of your journey which, will see you paddle a final 10 miles downstream to Hereford. This will be your final stop where a member of our canoe hire team will collect you at 3:30pn and return you to the canoe hire centre (45 minute drive).

Four Day Canoe Trip...
A four day canoe hire trip will see you starting from the small village of Glasbury-on-Wye, paddling approximately 51 miles downstream to Hoarwithy.
Route: Glasbury-on-Wye to Hoarwithy

About the Trip:
DAY 1: You will arrive at the canoe hire centre, in Three Cocks, where we will sign you in and kit you up. You and your group will then be transported to the starting point in Glasbury-on-Wye. Your first day will see you paddle approximately 10 miles downstream to Whitney-on-Wye which will be your first camping destination.
DAY 2:You will continue your journey downstream a further 12 miles. Along the way you will pass through the shallow rapids of the Scar & Monnington Falls before reaching your camping destination, Preston-on-Wye, for your second night.
DAY 3: This will be the longest day of your 4 day river trip with 19 miles to paddle downstream from Preston-on-Wye to Holme Lacy where you can set yup camp for your third night at Lucksall Campsite.
DAY 4: After the efforts of the third day, the final leg of your journey will be a leisurely 10 mile paddle downstream to Hoarwithy. This will be your final stop where a member of our canoe hire team will collect you at 3:30pm and return you to the canoe hire centre (1 hour drive).

Five Day Canoe Trip...
A five day canoe hire trip will see you starting from the small village of Glasbury-on-Wye, paddling approximately 62 miles downstream to Ross-on-Wye.

About the Trip:
DAY 1: You will arrive at the canoe hire centre, in Three Cocks, where we will sign you in and kit you up. You and your group will then be transported to the starting point in Glasbury-on-Wye. Your first day will see you paddle approximately 10 miles downstream to Whitney-on-Wye which will be your first camping destination.
DAY 2:You will continue your journey downstream a further 12 miles. Along the way you will pass through the shallow rapids of the Scar & Monnington Falls before reaching your camping destination, Preston-on-Wye, for your second night.
DAY 3:This will be the longest day of your five day river trip with 19 miles to paddle so, have a good hearty breakfast, pack your lunch and enjoy this adventurous stretch down to Holme Lacey, where you can stop for a well deserved nights rest at Lucksall Campsite.
DAY 4: After the efforts of the third day, a leisurely start can be afforded on day four as you make your way downstream towards Hoarwithy which, is approximiately a 10 mile paddle. On-route you get a glimpse of the Forest of Dean and all it's natural glory & wildlife, before arriving at your campsite destination for your fourth night.
DAY 5:This is will be the final leg of your five day river trip, with 10 miles to paddle downstream to Ross-on-wye. Here a member of the canoe ire team will collect you and return you to the canoe hire centre (1.5 hours).

What to bring...
We will provide you with buoyancy aids, paddles and your canoes. You will need to bring:-
- Loose, comfortable clothing i.e. T-shirt, fleece top, tracksuit bottoms, warm jumper
- Waterproofs
- Complete change of clothes
- Towel
- Comfortable footwear with good tread on soles for grip (please be aware footwear is likely to get wet)
- In warmer weather, please remember to bring a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.
- Please DO NOT wear denim as it has no insulating qualities when wet and is a restricting fabric.
1 large barrel and 1 small barrel per canoe is included in the cost.
Please Note: We DO NOT provide camping gear for multi-day hire you will need to bring your own Tents, Sleeping Bags and Cooking Equipment.
• Minimum of 2 people required to make a booking
• There must be 1 adult per child 14 years and above when hiring canoes.
• Minimum age is 8 years old.
• Should river levels be deemed unsuitable by Canoe Hire Wales on the day of your booking, all hire will take place on the Brecon & Monmouth Canal.
