KAYAKING LESSONS
Learn to paddle a Kayak: Our kayak lessons and Taster Days, are designed for complete beginners, giving you an introduction to the art of paddling a closed-cockpit kayak.
Instruction takes place on the River Wye at Glasbury, South Wales which offers a great sheltered location with easy access to the water. After an introduction by your coach, who is a qualified member of the British Canoe Union, you will be kitted up with a wet-suit, buoyancy aid, helmet, paddle and of course a Kayak and taken through a series of land based exercises, before getting on the water for your lesson.
Our Kayak Taster days are offered as either a half day or a full day consisting of the following:
Half Day Session:
You will spend the kayaking lesson staying locally on the river, learning skills and developing correct paddling techniques in manoeuvring the kayak, along with a few games to put these newly learned skills to the test.
Full Day Session:
You will spend the morning locally concentrating on skills & technique, getting you comfortable in the Kayak. Then, in the afternoon your coach will lead you on a short expedition down river to put your newly found skills into practice whilst enjoying some games along the way.
Throughout the activity session, the emphasis is placed on safe, enjoyable fun through progressive learning and confidence building. Kayaking is an exciting, competitive and recreational sport so, for our Taster Days we encompass all of these with a healthy helping of fun and adventure!
