Half Day Canoe & Kayak Hire

A half day canoe or kayak hire trips currently see you starting from the small town of Hay-on-Wye, paddling approximately 5 miles downstream to the Boat Inn at Whitney-on-Wye, the perfect place to stop and reward yourself at the end of your paddle.

Your day will begin by arriving at our Canoe Hire Centre, where we will sign you in and equip you with a buoyancy aid & paddle. Once you and your group are ready, you will be transported down to the launching point in Hay-on-Wye. Here our experienced staff will give you a short brief about the river and basic paddling techniques to see you through, before laucnhing your and your boats on the water.

The half day trip is a leisurely journey downstream towards the collection point Whitney-on-Wye. Along the way you will encounter a few shallow rapids as well as a variety of local wildlife such as: ducks, swans, herons and even fishermen.  Once you arrive at the collection point, one of our hire team will collect you and transport you and the equipment back to the canoe hire centre.

Craft available to hire:

  • 2 or 3 person open canoes
  • Single person sit-on-top kayaks
  • Two person tandem kayaks
